Your new company

Ealing is one of ten "Metropolitan Town Centres" and currently processes over 6000 applications per year with significant growth expected once the five Cross Rail stations open up over the next few years. These are exciting times for Ealing, which is increasingly being seen as an attractive site for developers is set to provide a number of career progression opportunities.

Your new role

You will participate in policy development for planning at national, regional, metropolitan and sub-regional levels i.e. responding to consultations on proposed changes in legislation, regulation, guidance, and policy updates, organising with other authorities and organisations on strategic matters of common concern, and as necessary, raising local issues which demand a strategic response. You will contribute to the preparation and production of the Local Development Plan (LDP), responding as necessary to changes in the statutory framework which may be introduced including supplementary planning documents, planning and site briefs, planning frameworks and practice guidance notes. You will also need to respond to statutory objections and representations on LDP matters, to prepare and co-ordinate evidence and to be a lead witness at public local inquiry into Local Plan objections. You will also have a significant input into the Strategic Planning Service Plan, Business Plan and Project Plans

What you'll need to succeed

Ideally you will have a degree in in Town Planning or a RTPI equivalent subject, with a proven track record of handling a range of development management applications. You will draw on your knowledge of Town and Country planning and the associated local and national legislation and policy, including Ealing's statutory obligations towards public consultation. As well as an excellent command of planning policy, you will be IT proficient and possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.

What you'll get in return

You will earn a competitive salary with additional benefits that include generous holiday allowance, flexible working and access to the Local Government pension scheme as well as access to tax efficient childcare vouchers, a cycle to work scheme and an interest free season ticket loan. You will be working as part of a large yet dynamic team, for an organisation that always seeks to promote from within and invest in staff through its extensive internal training programmes and the opportunity to gain further qualifications on the job.
