Job Details

Policy Officer (Neighbourhood Planning)

We currently have an exciting opportunity to work with our local communities on the production of their Neighbourhood Plans. Situated in North Nottinghamshire, Bassetlaw is a large and diverse urban/rural district; we can offer an interesting, varied and challenging workload, including helping to develop a Government Pilot which is looking at new ways of neighbourhood planning and interactive community engagement. You will also help deliver the new Bassetlaw Local Plan and help produce, for the first time, a design code for the
district.

We work with very active and enthusiastic local communities and are leading the way in neighbourhood planning in England. This is a role which requires a passion for community engagement and a willingness to understand a variety of planning issues so that local communities are equipped to meet the challenges that producing their Plans can bring.

You will be joining a small, friendly team, with a range of expertise and a willingness to share tasks and work collaboratively. We pride ourselves on our supportive environment and have an excellent track record of mentoring colleagues wishing to join the RTPI.

If you have, or are working towards, a relevant degree in town planning and have a positive outlook, have excellent communication skills and a desire to solve problems, we would love to hear from you.

We will value your contributions, give you access to a free healthcare cash plan and benefits, offer a very generous 25-31 days holiday package (rising incrementally each year) plus public/bank holidays, and give you the option to purchase additional annual leave tax-free. We will double your monthly pension contributions and provide the option to join our shared cost AVC scheme, offer discounted car parking of around £4 per month, and family friendly policies. We also offer hybrid working arrangements of partial home/office working.

To apply, please click on the 'Apply Now Button' or telephone the HR Team on (01909) 533121.
