They have responsibility for the delivery of a wide range of services in their local area, with a focus on making cities, towns and the countryside attractive places to live, work and invest.

An opportunity now exists in Longford County Council for the position of Senior Planner.

The Senior Planner is responsible for the efficient management, direction and development of the Planning and related functions on behalf of Longford County Council. This is a senior management role that requires leadership, innovation, agility and a commitment to customer service. The Senior Planner is required to work closely with the Management Team and Elected Members to deliver on the Council’s strategic corporate objectives, to lead on policy implementation and to actively participate in a multi-disciplinary approach to Climate Action.

The successful candidate will:

• hold a qualification in Planning (at least level 8 on the National Framework of Qualifications);
• have at least eight years satisfactory relevant experience in planning;
• possess a high standard of technical training and expertise;
• possess a high standard of administrative and strategic management experience.
• satisfactory knowledge of public service organisation or the ability to acquire same
