Area Team Manager

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and experienced Area Team Manager to join our Planning Service. As the Area Team Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing a dedicated team of staff who handle development management and monitoring and enforcement activities within the South Area of the national park.

The Role
As Area Team Manager, you will have a significant impact on the sustainable development and preservation of the South Area of the national park.
You will contribute significantly to shaping the future of the Peak District and ensuring sustainable development and preservation of its unique character. Specifically, you will:
- Lead and manage a team of planning professionals, providing guidance, support, and mentoring to ensure high productivity and professional growth.
- Co-ordinate and oversee all development management and enforcement activities in the South Area.
- Collaborate closely with colleagues and stakeholders, such as local authorities, landowners, and community groups, to ensure consistent application of the Authority’s planning policies, practices and protocols and effective communication and engagement.
- Provide expert advice and guidance on planning matters to both internal and external parties, promoting best practices and sustainable development principles.
- Stay up to date with relevant legislation, policies, and industry trends.
About You
To join us as an Area Team Manager, you will need an RTPI final qualification with significant experience in town planning, preferably within a national park or similar context and a proven track record of successfully leading and managing people and resources to deliver high quality outcomes.
You should have knowledge of the external environment that the National Park Authority operates in alongside in-depth knowledge of planning legislation, policies and procedures. Strong communication, advocacy and influencing skills are essential as is the ability to effectively engage with diverse stakeholders and make balanced judgement and sound decisions.
