Planning Officer Role Profile

An opportunity has arisen within the Strategic Developments Team, in our Development Management division, dealing with a variety of multi-million-pound urban regeneration projects and other strategic developments within the cities’ growth areas, which includes our historic city centre and iconic waterfront area.

As a senior grade Planning Officer you will deal with a diverse caseload of major planning applications, including leading on the delivery of a number of strategic key site allocations in our Joint Local Plan. The roles include negotiating complex planning applications, S106 agreements and pre-application enquiries. The role will also require adopting a proactive approach to the planning process, including the use of Planning Performance Agreements. You will be working with key stakeholders and partners in the city, providing advice to customers and elected members, presenting at Planning Committee and representing the LPA at appeal. You will be a fully qualified planner with considerable experience as a case officer and a proven track record in meeting targets and providing outstanding customer service. You will be expected to be able to work independently and as part of a supportive team.
Membership, or eligibility for membership, of the RTPI or an appropriate professional institute is essential.
