Following the recent successful recruitment for the Planning Control Team, we now have a great opportunity for you to join us as one of two Principal Planners in the section. You will lead a team covering the historic and growing market towns of King’s Lynn, Downham Market & Hunstanton, the Norfolk Coast (including the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty), the Fens and areas bordering the Brecks. This is a unique opportunity to work in a beautiful part of the country. We are a large borough with diverse landscapes ranging from the Norfolk Coast AONB in the north, to the Fens and the Brecks in the South. This gives you the opportunity to be involved with rural issues and urban regeneration, and coastal planning as well as major developments proposed within the main towns of King’s Lynn, Downham Market and Hunstanton. West Norfolk provides a beautiful environment in which to live and work with the council offices based in King’s Lynn, a medieval town and port with an outstanding conservation area.

You will be a fully qualified Planner with RTPI Membership and have at least five years post-qualification experience working in the field of Development Control/Management. Management experience is essential as we need you to lead and develop a team of hard-working Planners of various levels of experience. Alongside this you will also have your own small caseload of complex planning applications and associated appeals and have the ability to provide sound advice and judgements for a range of audiences, including your team, Councillors, developers and members of the public.
