Overview:

We are excited to confirm two opportunities have arisen across the planning teams at Three Rivers District Council. The roles include one Planning Officer in the Development Management department and one Planning Officer within the Planning Policy department.

We are looking for enthusiastic candidates with environmental awareness and an interest in planning who are willing to develop their career and make an important positive contribution to the local area.

The Departments:

The roles offer an ideal opportunity to learn with a forward-looking authority that has an excellent track record of commitment to preserving and enhancing the quality of the District, as well as investing in our staff’s learning and development. Both roles are full-time, but part-time and flexible working applications will be considered.

The Roles:

The Planning Officer role within the Development Management department includes a combination of handling of pre-application enquiries, assessing planning applications and subsequent appeals, undertaking enforcement investigations and other project work. Dealing with a varied caseload you will have the potential to develop your career and make an important positive contribution to the local area.

The Planning Officer role within the Planning Policy department will assist in the preparation of the Three Rivers Local Plan. You will help achieve the objectives of the Council by providing planning policy expertise during public consultations, committee meetings and working groups. You will provide advice to Officers and Elected Members in Planning Policy matters, ensuring appropriate regulations are met. You will work collaboratively with colleagues to improve the planning departments land use and local plan monitoring capability.

Both roles will require strong verbal, written and presentation skills and candidates must be able to demonstrate the ability and initiative to handle a diverse and competing workload and work to tight deadlines. Good interpersonal skills will also be necessary, as will be liaising and negotiating with the public, external agents and organisations, Council Members and other Council departments.
