Welcome to Charnwood Borough Council! We’re not just any council – we take pride in our work and our borough, deliver outstanding customer service and work together with pace and positivity.

Working in a team of environment protection specialists, you will help deliver an effective and efficient planning service by providing specialist advice on a varied caseload of planning applications ranging from householders to major development proposals (depending on your level of experience). In addition, you will help guide planning policy relating to heritage and design matters. The role will provide you with experience of working with a variety of teams across Council departments and with elected representatives as well as external partners and stakeholders.

This is a career graded post and will enable the post holder to gain experience and career progression. The post holder will be limited to Grade E until they attain membership of the RTPI at which point they move to SO1 and may progress up to SO2 without any restriction. Progression beyond SO2 to PO1 is subject to the Special Factors as listed in the Job Description being met and evidenced.

This is an opportunity to use your skills and talent to make a significant and immediate contribution to improving the quality of places in Charnwood and the lives of residents in our communities. We will offer you varied and plentiful experience in a busy planning office, liaising with a variety of stakeholders to effectively achieve Charnwood’s aims of supporting sustainable growth.
