Full Time, 12 month Fixed Term Contract (maternity cover)

We are seeking a driven, knowledgeable and experienced Chartered Town Planner to lead our excellent Development Management function, including Conservation and Planning Enforcement. Reporting to the Director of Place and Economy, you will have significant expertise of working within Development Management and be confident in leading a service, dealing with complex Planning matters and in liaising with elected Members and members of the public.

As Development Management Manager your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Management and development of the development management, enforcement and historic conservation functions of the Council;
  • Ensuring the development management, conservation and enforcement statutory responsibilities are carried out in accordance with Government Legislation, Policy, procedure and guidance and accord with the Council’s Corporate Plan, Business Plans, Service Plans and Development Plans and Policies, and;
  • Ensuring that the service meets the needs of the community and that performance is regularly monitored and reported to ensure the service is meeting the Governments targets

About you:

  • You will be a skilled Chartered Planner with significant practical experience of Development Management
  • Skilled manager with previous experience in team or service management roles
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Confident and Professional approach
  • Highly Motivated and Enthusiastic
  • Substantial experience in dealing with Elected Members and be able to train accordingly when changes in legislation occur
