We are the planning authority for the Yorkshire Dales National Park – you may have seen the Park in many TV shows and films – it is beautiful place that is home to the Three Peaks, wild moors and rivers, woods and deep brooding valleys. The Role
The role is a permanent and full-time (37 hours per week), based at our Bainbridge office near Leyburn, with blended home and office working arrangements available.
You will work in a small friendly team of planners responsible for delivering an efficient and effective development management service for half (North or South) of the National Park.
You will negotiate positive design solutions, provide professional advice on a broad spectrum of planning issues, manage applications efficiently and present your recommendations clearly.
About You
You will have either a recognised planning or related degree and are looking to gain relevant experience to qualify for RTPI membership or already have experience of development control work and want to study for a planning degree whilst working.
You will be willing to study and achieve a Chartered Town Planner/Urban Planning Level 7 (masters level) Degree Apprenticeship with a chosen university, with support from the Authority.
With a good understanding of the legislative, procedural and policy framework, you will also be a good communicator and proficient in the use of IT software packages appropriate to the role.
Access to a car or access to a means of mobility support to meet the travel demands of the post (if driving must have a current valid driving licence and appropriate business insurance) is essential.
