Do you hold a relevant degree or other qualification recognised by the RTPI or RICS, have at least two years’ experience in managing a project team, ideally within the minerals and waste industry, and an interest in environmental planning? As Planning & Development Manager you will strengthen our Estates team, which manages our surprisingly large and diverse property portfolio, including industrial, agricultural, residential, leisure and commercial assets. You will join us on a permanent contract with a starting basic salary of £42,500 plus a host of great benefits, including:
- Company car
- Discretionary company bonuses
- Pension scheme (you contribute 5% of pay, Grundon matches this) with life insurance cover
- 30 days’ annual leave (inclusive of 8 bank holidays), which will increase with service, plus the option to buy up to 5 extra days' holiday
What you’ll be doing as Planning & Development Manager
Grundon’s continued success is largely due to its innovative and forward-thinking approach, not least in seizing creative opportunities for future growth. Our Estates department is fundamental in making this happen - by ensuring the changing needs of our business are met through the planning system.
In this challenging role you will be involved in a variety of exciting planning and development projects, ranging from (but not limited to) minerals and waste planning, renewable energy, sustainability and commercial development projects. You will deliver planning consents, and manage early-stage development activities to both support operational teams and create increasing value from the estate.
- Working closely with our operational colleagues, you will regularly visit sites to discuss and identify development opportunities to improve efficiency and productivity.
- Working closely with Estates colleagues and members of the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) you will identify development opportunities in the non-operational commercial estate.
- Working closely the Estates Director, Head of Estates, others within the Estates team and legal advisors, you will secure the legal agreements and statutory consents necessary to enable development.
- In partnership with the Projects, Engineering & Design (PED) team, you will develop early-stage scheme designs, commission investigations and lead internal and external teams to undertake and manage planning applications, EIAs, Appeals, Local Development Framework submissions and other land-use regulatory activities in support of the business.
What we're looking for in our Planning & Development Manager
- Full UK driving licence as regular visits to sites and attendance at public liaison events will be required.
- Relevant degree and/or other qualification recognised by the RTPI or RICS (or working towards).
- At least two years’ experience of managing a project team, ideally within the minerals and waste industry. Experience in land matters is desirable.
- Confidence and motivation, together with effective communication and excellent organisational, negotiation and analytical skills.
Working hours: 37.5 per week - 9am-5.30pm, Mon-Fri (flexibility required)
