About The Role
Planning Graduate/ Officer - Career Grade Band 6/7 - £30,296 - £38,223
Would you like to help plan for the future of the Borough of Great Yarmouth?
With issues as diverse as economic regeneration, housing need, coastal change, internationally protected habitats and flood risk, Great Yarmouth is the perfect place for a planner to start or develop their career and to get experience of unique and interesting planning challenges.
Now is an exciting time to join the planning department at Great Yarmouth Borough Council. The Council has recently become one of the first local authorities in the country to adopt a Borough-wide Design Code which is already helping to improve the quality of design in the area. A new Local Plan is under preparation and there will be an opportunity to contribute to this and help deliver it. Additionally, new modern planning software is on the horizon which will help streamline our processes and enable us to deliver high-quality customer service.
Initially you will be based in our Development Management team helping to determine a wide-range of planning applications. However, there will also be opportunities of getting experience in planning policy preparation in our Strategic Planning team.
Closing date: 06 October 2024
Interview date: TBC
If you would like to have an informal discussion about the role, please contact Sam Hubbard, Head of Planning on 01493846624.
About You
The role is a career-graded post so we would welcome applications from both experienced planners and from new graduates in Town and Country Planning or related disciplines (such as Geography) who are interested in becoming a professional planner.
