Development Manager – Planning – up to £71k
At St Albans City and District Council we place great emphasis on values and behaviours - caring for our community, working together, and developing confident people. We are also committed to delivering a highly efficient and customer focused planning service, with an emphasis on performance and the quality of decisions. This leadership opportunity will be critical to us continuing to achieve our ambitious plans.
The overall purpose of this role is to lead on, co-ordinate, deliver and continuously improve a development management service which puts development plans and documents into action, complies with statutory requirements and corporate policy and applies an entrepreneurial and innovative approach to service delivery.
The role is also the liaison manager for the shared planning enforcement and building control service delivered by Watford Borough Council. You will be supported to grow and develop in this role, regularly collaborating with peers as part of the Council’s leadership team.
This is a great opportunity to join a highly experienced and well-resourced planning team who provide a customer focused service but also understand the need for speed and efficiency. The post holder will have the opportunity to shape large-scale strategic development for Hemel Garden Communities in partnership with other councils, and to transform the service through delivery of new replacement planning software. You will also work as part of Government’s Open Digital Community delivering customer focused software solutions.
If you are a qualified Planner who has the knowledge, experience and motivation to meet the requirements of the role and can demonstrate a track record of working within a corporate environment to set long term vision, drive performance and lead innovation and change, then we want to hear from you.
