e now have an exciting opportunity for a Graduate Planner to join the CNPA and contribute, as part of a small team, to an efficient and effective Planning Service.
The Role:
As the Graduate Planner you will undertake work across the various functions of the planning service. This includes development planning, by contributing to the collection and maintenance of a robust evidence base to underpin policy development, implementation, monitoring and review.
As part of development management, you will review and assess planning applications and as prepare and present reports to our Planning Committee.
You will also undertake general planning-related casework and queries, and assist with monitoring and enforcement.
Please note, this is a career graded post, starting at a graduate level salary (band C), but subject to ongoing performance and organisational need, there is scope to work through the graduate role upwards into a Planning Officer level role (band D). Movement onto band D grading will be subject to appraisal reviews of performance and experience gained and availability of a Planning Officer role within the Authority’s staffing establishment.

About You:
To be considered as our Graduate Planner, you’ll need:
A recognised degree in Town Planning or closely related subject area and eligible for Licentiate Membership of the Royal Town Planning Institute. Ability to accurately interpret and analyse maps and data using geographical information systems e.g. ArcGIS Pro, QGIS. Computer literate and have a good knowledge and experience of using Outlook, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Excellent communication and customer service skills. Ability to work unsupervised and to own initiative, delivering to agreed deadlines. Ability to adapt and to learn new skills. Ability to prioritise and deal with a varied workload and meet deadlines. Full UK driving licence or access to driver if disability prevents driving; and Permission to work in the UK.
