We have an exciting opportunity available within our Development Plans Team.

The position is permanent, 37 hours a week based in the beautiful county of Pembrokeshire, adjacent to the world famous Pembrokeshire Coast National Park. We have one post available at either Trainee Planner or Town Planner/Senior Planner level.

Trainee Planning Officer (Grade 6 - £27,269 - £30,060)

For the Trainee role a degree or equivalent qualification in a Planning related subject such as Geography, Architecture, Land Management etc. or extensive previous experience working within the planning industry is a requirement. The Trainee Planning Officer post offers a programme of structured workplace training with the potential for external learning (funded by PCC) in order for the post holder to obtain a post-graduate qualification in Planning (and work towards obtaining chartered membership of the RTPI). The post holder will train in the skills required to become a Planning Officer with the necessary supervision and mentoring provided. The role will initially involve assisting with the provision of professional input to the development of the Local Development Plan (LDP) and Strategic Development Plan (SDP) policy frameworks, including site specific proposals, and to the preparation of Supplementary Planning Guidance (SPG) that elaborates on policies and proposals in LDPs and SDPs. When considered competent, the post holder will have responsibility for policy topic areas. The role would also assist with the preparation of evidence base and monitoring documents in relation to the LDP.
