Location: Yorkshire | Contract Type: Permanent | Salary: Up to £48,300
Are you a skilled planning professional ready to take on a leadership role? We're seeking a dynamic Principal Planning Officer to join our team at a local authority in beautiful Yorkshire.
The Role:
In this vital position, you will:
- Oversee development control activities within your designated area.
- Lead a team of up to four, fostering a collaborative and motivated environment.
- Provide expert advice on complex planning matters.
- Champion a culture of excellent customer service.
- Prepare and deliver committee presentations.
- Handle applications and appeals efficiently and in line with best practices.
- Represent the Authority at public inquiries, hearings, and community events.
- Contribute to the preparation and review of the Development Plan.
- Stay updated on the latest planning legislation through ongoing professional development.
- Undertake corporate projects and step in for the Head of Development Management when needed.

About You:
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Full membership with the Royal Town Planning Institute (RTPI).
- At least one year’s experience in a development management environment.
- Proven leadership skills, with experience managing and motivating teams.
- In-depth knowledge of planning legislation, procedures, and policies, including S.106 agreements.
