These are exciting times to be working at Birmingham Council, one of the largest and most exciting Local Planning Authorities in the Country. Whilst we have faced challenging times over the last year, the continued growth of the city and the region is at the heart of the council’s recovery strategy.
As a member of the planning team, you will be integral to this recovery, capitalising on the significant development across the city and the arrival of HS2. The city has, and will continue to experience significant employment, housing and retail growth and this needs to be balanced against the need to manage development pressure and also protect and retain the City’s natural and built assets. The planning team is at the centre of this ambitious growth programme and we are seeking talented and driven people to deliver it.
We are looking to add further strength to the team by recruiting Principal Planning Officers in the Development Management team to guide some of the biggest and most strategic schemes the city has, to ensure consistent and equitable approach to decision making. The role is fast paced and requires excellent negotiation and organisational skills alongside a desire to deliver the best quality planning decisions.
We have huge ambitions for Birmingham. As the shape of local government continues to change, we are excited to rise to the challenge and find new ways to ensure that our residents enjoy the best opportunities in life. Working at Birmingham gives you the opportunity to play a key role in meeting those ambitions on behalf of everyone who calls the city their home.
We have four permanent roles available.
Closing date: 9 January 2025.
