Senior Planning Officer: Development Planning

These are exciting times to be working at Birmingham Council, one of the largest and most exciting Local Planning Authorities in the Country. As a member of the Development Planning Group, you will contribute to planning for and delivering transformational change, with involvement in a full range of local planning services and area initiative and project work. You will assist in the preparation and implement of statutory and non-statutory planning and regeneration frameworks, secure stakeholder and community engagement in project development and delivery through consultation, liaison and negotiation. You would be working across the city on a range of projects, from preparing site development briefs and masterplans, to regeneration and implementation plans for large areas and neighbourhoods, and supporting neighbourhood plans.
The role will also include input to major corporate development projects and initiatives, input to CPOs, seeking funding and supporting delivery of the associated of programmes, and development of projects to ensure expenditure of S106 funds.
The role includes supporting the promotion of the city’s development opportunities with developers and investors, and close working with Business Improvement Districts, ward members, community groups, schools and universities.
