Overview of the role
Responsible for providing complex planning advice, determining applications, and developing planning policies and guidance. Leads professional teams to deliver high-quality, client-focused planning services
Responsibilities and Duties
- Deliver complex town planning services, including development management, policy preparation, and regeneration projects, ensuring adherence to performance standards and delivery plans.
- Provide expert, high-impact advice and decisions with significant effects on local development, the environment, economy, and council priorities such as affordable housing.
- Lead professional teams, manage projects effectively, and foster collaboration across staff, colleagues, and partner organizations.
- Offer clear, accurate advice on statutory planning processes, monitor policy impacts, and mitigate legal, financial, and reputational risks to the council.
- Drive service excellence, maintain good governance, ensure compliance with legislative changes, and promote continuous improvement and equal opportunities.
