Planning, Monitoring and Enforcement Officer
£29,093 to £32,654 per annum
Location: Flexible working arrangements combining working from home and at County Hall, Loughborough Road, West Bridgford, Nottingham, NG2 7QP
Are you looking for a challenging and wide ranging role in development management to start your planning career?
Nottinghamshire County Council is looking for someone who has graduated or is working towards a degree in planning, geography, geology, environmental sciences or other related subject.
Our planning responsibilities cover minerals and waste development as well as a range of our own projects such as the expansion of schools and local infrastructure. Knowledge and experience of minerals and waste planning is not essential as you will have the support of a small team of experienced officers to help you. You will gain experience in managing a caseload of planning applications for a range of developments which the County Council has the responsibility to determine. In addition, you will also get out to operational sites across the county to ensure developments granted planning permission by the County Council are operating in compliance with the permissions, and also help deal with complaints relating to breaches of planning control including assisting with investigation and any follow-up action. There are also opportunities to do work across with the wider Planning Group.
The role offers the opportunity to get involved with some of the key planning issues of the day, supporting the Government’s growth agenda by helping to deliver the minerals needed to build new houses and the waste management facilities which treat waste as a resource. You will also get involved in delivering significant biodiversity net gain through the restoration of quarries across the county. The post also provides you with the opportunity to gain funding for post-graduate studies to help you progress your career in planning.
Closing Date: Sunday 23 February 2025
Interviews: Week commencing 10 March 2025
Disabled applicants who meet the essential shortlisting requirements will be guaranteed an interview. A job share scheme is available for all full time posts: both permanent and temporary, unless otherwise stated. We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people and vulnerable adults and we expect all staff to share this commitment and undergo appropriate checks.
The County Council welcomes applications from all, irrespective of gender, marital status, disability, race, age or sexual orientation.
